Emmajane Taylor-Moran – Chair

Emmajane Taylor Moran image

Emmajane joined Islington-based Gelbergs Solicitors in 2011 as Head of the Employment Law Department, moving from a Legal 500 listed niche City firm, and is now a Partner in the firm. Emmajane has extensive experience in advising employers and employees in all aspects of employment law, and managing high-profile and complex litigation in the tribunals and courts. She has extensive knowledge of the public sector, including the NHS, Local Authorities, Regulatory Bodies, educational institutions and voluntary organisations. Her particular interests are TUPE, social media and discrimination. Specific career highlights have been representing Claimants in a breach of contract claim in the Court of Appeal involving discretionary bonus payments (GX Networks Ltd v Greenland [2010] EWCA Civ 784), and in a multiple party complex TUPE case involving service provision change in the motor industry (Grace v Geo W King Ltd & Ors [2011] UKEAT).


Hak Huseyin – Co-Vice Chair

HAK HUSEYINHak is the owner of north-Islington-based Absolute Print. After working on a letterpress for 12 months Hak fell in love with both the practical and client-orientated aspects of printing and enrolled at the London College of Printing in Clerkenwell. This led to an apprenticeship at Astral Print in Hackney as a printer on a four colour Roland litho machine. Having completed his four years he was given his own 2 colour press to run. He started taking orders outside work and within 12 months was finding it difficult to juggle both the print job and client base. In 1995 he got together with Engin Mehmet, and Absolute Print was conceived. By 1996 they were renting a shop in Junction Road and have since gone from strength to strength, in 2012 expanding into the next door unit, increasing  their operating space to close to 2000 square foot. In 2008 Archway Town Centre Group was formed, with Hak holding the position of Chair throughout its initial three years and Vice-Chair for the following three years. Over those six years the group built a great membership and a strong relationship with Islington Council, securing funding of over £200k to improve the town centre. Hak is an avid Arsenal supporter and season ticket holder and still attempts to play himself. He also loves playing backgammon and traveling.


Laura Mariani – Co-Vice Chair

07011403-030Laura is the Director/Founder of the People Alchemist Ltd., a Management Consultancy founded in 2014 after operating for 20 years at senior Director level in both the Private and Public Sectors predominately in fast paced, customer and target driven B2Bs and B2Cs environments (FMCG, Retail, E-commerce, Manufacturing, Pharma, Media) and Third Sector, Social Enterprises contracting with Local Government. The People Alchemist Ltd. supports multinational blue chips, entrepreneurs/small business owners, SMEs going through major events with their people strategy, tactics and plan and providing guidance and leadership across the full HR remit including resource planning, talent management, learning and development, engagement and retention, reward, employee relations and diversity, ensuring a tailored yet consistent delivery of all HR activity. Laura is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Personnel & Development (FCIPD), Fellow of the Australian Human Resources Institute, (FAHRI) Fellow of the Institute of Leadership & Management (FInstLM) and Member of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM).


Ben Smaje – Treasurer

Ben S imageBen set up Kennedy Black Wealth Management in 2009 after a decade working in the City as an investment banker. Kennedy Black is a fee-based firm of independent financial advisers, delivering comprehensive financial planning, robust investment management and effective tax planning for senior professionals and successful business owners. Ben started his career in the City working for Chase Manhattan, J.P. Morgan and latterly Societe Generale. Kennedy Black has received numerous accolades in recent years including being short-listed twice for a Money Marketing Financial Services Award, a leading national industry award. Ben has a law degree from the University of Birmingham and a Postgraduate Certificate in Mathematical Finance from Birkbeck College, University of London. Ben has been a member of the Islington Chamber of Commerce since 2011 and a Director since 2013.


Benjamin Hawkes

Ben HawkesBenjamin is a Managing Director at The Flooring Group, London’s largest flooring specialist. The Flooring Group has been a family business since 1973 and can supply & install all types of flooring in residential or commercial premises. Since leaving school at 16 to setup a successful work experience business, Ben has always had an entrepreneurial drive for innovation. When Ben is not busy trying to find the next quirky idea, he is usually at the gym or eating the latest superfood. This health obsession helps compensate for the stress Ben incurs through being a season ticket holder at West Ham United, which he considers to be the ultimate in emotional masochism!


Elsie Igbinadolor

elsieElsie Igbinadolor is a property investor, developer, coach and mentor. She is also an award winning public speaker. By way of background Elsie is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has worked for over 15 years for a number of prestigious banks such as JP Morgan, UBS and Barclays and has been investing in property since 2005. Born and bred in Islington, Elsie has built up a substantial portfolio of high value central London apartments and HMOs. Elsie most certainly was not born with a silver spoon in her mouth. One of 4 children brought up for a single parent, Elsie was inspired by the hardworking ethics of her mother…”Life has no duplicate” is what her mother used to say! Elsie is also the founder of the Women in Property & Business Network. She is passionate about promoting, supporting and empowering WOMEN to be the best they can be and at the same time ensuring they are financially savvy!


Andrea Osborne

Andrea Osborne photoAndrea is a born organiser and loves it. In her first job in London, she streamlined her After Sales and Tuning Manager role so efficiently that the job went from 40+ hours a week to two afternoons a week. It’s great to be a born organiser but not so great when you organise yourself out of your own job! After reading an article about concierge companies in the USA, she realised she had been doing this for years. After a decade in IT as a consultant project manager, Andrea decided she preferred human beings to PCs and set up cushion the impact ltd – a lifestyle management and concierge service – and hasn’t looked back since.
